![]() ![]() If you replace the midrange unit with a different type you might get dips or peaks at unwanted frequencies that will cause your 545 to sound not as good as new. The 545 is a studio MFB box and it's frequency response has been measured quite extensively. ![]() Mounting the new units that you bought might cause the mid frequencies to respond in an unwanted manner. Personally I prefer keeping the speakers in original state and thus repairing the units or replacing them with identical ones which can be purchased second-hand quite easily. This should be 4 to 6 ohms (assuming the unit is an AD0211/SQ8). If you use an ohm-meter on the connections of the broken midrange unit, you will see an endless resistance. The basic thing is, that mostly the wires from the voice coil get disconnected from the unit's connections, resulting in an open circuit.
